A
golden
opportunity presented itself when I received this e-mail.

Hi,
I
got a kick out of
your page. Nice job! Let
me know if you want some more info on the Del-Aires, my name is Ron
Linares, the son of Ronnie Linares from the Del-Aires.

Needless
to say, this was very exciting news. I e-mailed him back and the
following is gleaned from our e-mail exchanges over the next several
days.

3B
Theater: Thanks for the
offer. First and foremost, I know who your dad is. Can you tell me
who the other band members are? The drummer? The Buddy Holly clone
and the bass player?
Ron:
The drummer is John Becker. Gary Jones on bass and "Buddy
Holly" is Bobby Osborne.
3B
Theater: There’s a
couple of names I don’t recognize. I take it Edward Earle and
Wilfred Holcombe were not part of the band then?
Ron:
No, Edward Earle and Wilfred Holcombe were not part of the
Del-Aires, they were writers brought in for the movie.
3B
Theater: That clears up a
lot of things. Is your father still alive?
Ron:
Yes
3B
Theater: Are the other
band members still with us?
Ron:
Yes, as far as I know.
3B
Theater: Outstanding. If I
sent you list of questions concerning the band would you be willing
to do an online interview?
Ron:
I am sure my father would do an interview.
3B
Theater: Wow. That'd be
great. I’ll get to work on that list of questions right away. I'll
also let you know that I get a ton of e-mail concerning the page.
There are an amazingly large number of Del-Aires fans out there.
Ron:
That is really cool. Are you in the US? Not that it means a whole
bunch, just curious where the interest is coming from?
3B
Theater: Well, this
website is based in Grand Island, Nebraska, of all places. It’s a
member of a family of websites in pursuit of carnal knowledge of all
things B-Movies, cult films and general weirdness. I’ve personally
been a big fan of your dad’s band since first seeing them in The
Horror of Party Beach. Thanks for your input and I’ll get that
list of questions for your dad to you ASAP.

Big
thanks to Ron Linares for getting in touch with me and offering some
priceless info. I did submit a list of questions to Ron but that was
some time ago and haven’t heard anything back yet. I told him to
take all the time he needed but I hope my fanboy zealousness
didn’t scare him off. I still have hope that he’ll get back in
touch.
I’m
also currently in contact with the grandson of Wilfred Holcombe --
who wrote several songs for The
Horror of Party Beach and hope to land a Q&A with him as
well.
